STA PREST After nearly a 30 year break, this top Mod trio from Wickford in Essex were persuaded to re-form to play the 30th Anniversary Mods Mayday event that took place in Birmingham last year. The band loved it so much they decided to stay together to do a few gigs. Dick York, the original singer and song writer has put pen to paper and has starting writing new songs. A couple of these new songs really do stand out and with the right backing could be anthems of the future. The stand out tracks to us are “Jimmy’s Shoes” and “Fair Fight”, both are sung with vigor and draws on past life experiences of growing up in his home town of Wickford. Back in 1980, Sta Prest only gave us one single to remember them by…..”School Days” was a true anthem but didn’t really give them the respect and statues that other top bands of the scene got! Bands like ‘The Chords’, ‘The Purple Hearts’, ‘The Lambrettas’, ‘The Circles’, ‘The Killermeters’ etc all got legendary status. Hopefully this album will put this right and let Sta Prest be up their with all the other great and long lost Mod bands of that era!
