“BLITZ” What can we say about Blitz that hasn’t been said before? A bunch of young and naive kids that lived the punk life style 24/7, burning the candle at both ends. Had a residency at the famous “ROXY CLUB” in Neal Street, London, WC2. Not only did they play this legendary punk haunt more times than ANY of band, they were the VERY last band the tread the famous stage. The majority of ALL the early London and the surrounding home counties punk bands cut their teeth at this dive! After being regulars at the club, the then owner (Kevin St. John) promoted the band as un-paid workers in return for the four of them to live at his place rent free. Bar duties, floor cleaners, toilet attendants….. You name it! Then they decided to form a band as they could already all play. “St. John” was blown away with their audition and offered the band a residency at the club and a management deal. Being managed by the best known PUNK CLUB owner in the UK, how could the band fail? Sadly they did!! Basically this meant more un-paid duties, plus they played every time a band never turned up! This release captures the band on New Years Day in 1978 when the album “Farewell To The Roxy” was being recorded! This is the bands historical set. PLUS on top of that, we give you FIVE unreleased studio demos from 1977 / 1978, One of which is the brilliant “London Is For Tourists” which ‘St. John” even had a hand in writing!
