Detour Records are proud to announce their latest release…. Well after many years of searching for the elusive missing ex band members of Beggar, we finally struck lucky. Their ex drummer, Mike Slocombe was easy to find as he now runs URBAN 75 in Brixton. Unfortunately for Detour, he hasn’t seen any of the other ex band members since the break-up of the band back in 1980. So we started our search looking for the main song writer and vocalist Bryn Gregory. Little did we know that Bryn wasn’t his first name so we drew many blanks. Then on searching the net we noticed that Bryn was now back singing in a harmonica driven RnB band. After more research and sleepless nights we went away trying to track this band down only to find that they had just split up. After a few more phone calls we finally had a number for Bryn who in turn put us in touch with the last two remaining members… and the rest is history so to speak... After many attics and bottom draw searching, two long lost tapes, old photo albums and scrapbooks were found. The two tapes featured 16 studio demo tracks that were recorded between 1978 / 1979. All of these tracks haven’t been heard in 31 years. All tracks have now been digitally restored to their former GLORY! Sadly this band never received the recognition that they truly deserved. They were right at the forehead of the ‘79 Mod Revival along with their counterparts of Secret Affair, The Chords, The Purple Hearts, The Mods, The Small Hours. They played on the ’NOW’ legendary Mods Mayday ALBUM thanks to Terry Murphy. They even had their own residency at the “Saxon House” in Walthamstow AND were even offered a record deal but this sadly fell through...
